Only about ten of this traditional steel cutter with a centerboard (draft 65 -185 cm), designed by Martin Bekebrede, have been made. The “Grote Beer” is from the year '84/85 and comes from the De Vries Lemmer yard. One is not likely to come up for sale soon.

It is a beautifully looking, solid, and reliable sailboat that has a very large sailing range due to its variable draft, retractable mast, and powerful 30 HP Vetus diesel: (Wadden) sea, IJsselmeer, grounding on the mudflats, Frisian lakes down to the smallest ditches are navigable. Additionally, it is pleasant to stay in the spacious interior with standing height in the cabin, a large galley and seating for 2, and a table for 6 people in the bow, which can be converted into a 2-person bed. 2 large dog crates, all with good cushions and mattresses, complete the interior.

The cockpit is spacious, the side decks are wide, and the stainless steel railing all around provides good support.

I bought her in 2022 from the previous owner, who had just replaced the drive train. The purchase inspection is available for viewing.

In '23 and '24, several improvements and additions were made:

-a new Harken furler plus new roller genoa with cover (Haagoort)

-revision of the electrical system, with 2 new 12 V 120 Ah batteries, and new main and separation switches

-installation of Raymarine Evolution EV 100 tiller autopilot with display

-12 V compressor refrigerator.

-Electric winch for mast lowering installation

-various engine parts replaced, extensive service

-woodwork and cabin all varnished/painted

'24:

-hull re-primed and 2 x Epifanes above the waterline,

-below the waterline 2 x primer and antifouling

-deck and superstructure repainted

-wooden mast completely stripped, inspected, 9 layers of Epifanes clear varnish

Lifting keel (manually on winch, but can also be operated with a cordless drill using a coupling bit)
