Botentekoop.nl was founded in 1996 and has been the market leader in boat advertisements in the Netherlands ever since. Botentekoop.nl was founded by Boris Hilberdink, who turned his water sports hobby into his job and founded Bohil Media. In 2000 this resulted in a takeover by the Telegraaf Media Groep. The position of market leader has been further strengthened under this regime. In 2017, the brand was then acquired by Arimpex Media Services, publisher of various titles such as Boatshop24.com and boats.nl. By adding Boten.nl and Botenbank.nl to this portfolio, a water sports platform has been created in which all facets of pleasure boating come into their own. In 2020, Botentekoop.nl was acquired by Boats Group, the leading group in the online sale of recreational boats.
