This outstandingly elegant vessel uses some of the latest design technology to optimize sailing performance, without losing the basic qualities valued by experienced ocean sailors - strength of construction, total reliability, and true seakeeping abilities.

Her hull and deck structure is constructed of GRP in cost-effective female molds, with almost all other aspects of the yacht being offered on a semi custom basis.

The Oyster 80 has a bulb keel which, due to its low center of gravity, maximizes stability and sailing performance while maintaining the cruising convenience of moderate draft. An efficient fully-battened mainsail is offered as standard while, for ease of handling, in-mast furling is an option. The Oyster 80 can hit 10 knots sailing on a sixty degree reach in around 14 knots of wind, a very impressive light wind capability that hints at the greater speeds on offer in heavier wind conditions. While on passage from Hawaii to Alaska, the Oyster 80 "Free Spirit" covered 1,000 miles in four days in cruising trim.

On deck her large cockpit offers comfortable seating for up to 12, all well-protected by a high backrest and cockpit coaming. Wide, flat side decks combine with teak-capped bulwarks to give a safe walk around deck space running the full length of the yacht and also to provide additional security on the working deck forward.
